HOW TO WIN AT ST. PATRICK'S DAY

St. Patrick’s Day is like Valentine’s Day for people who love Jameson and bad decisions…

🙋

With all that Guinness, flying shamrocks and leprechaun hats it’s easy to make a right knob of yourself. But we’ve got you covered with our fave ways to do the day.

This is how to win at St. Patrick’s Day…

1. Go Big

New York, United States

NY is home to the biggest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the world - 150,000 people paint their faces green and jig in the streets.

The parade winds around the city centre, past Times Square and a green-tipped Empire State Building. Whiskey bottles are swigged from paper bags and The Statue of Liberty glows like a nuclear waste hazard 🗽

With 33 million American-Irish - the whole country joins in. Boston does Irish pub crawls with gigs across the city and Chicago dyes the river green. Americans never do things by halves...

2. Go Cultured

Brussels, Belgium

For less tat and more culture head to the Belgian capital, home to the Irish in Europe Association who promote Irish culture in communities across the continent ☘

Sure there’s a traditional parade and the usual pub shenanigans, but over in Brussels you’ll find a day of Irish sports. Join in a game of Gaelic football or hang on to your front teeth with a bit of Hurling or Camogie.

Spot the famous Manneken Pis statue who gets a full Irish makeover (see image above).

3. Go Irish

Dublin, Ireland

Unless the idea of getting vomited on or beaten up appeals to you, avoid the Temple Bar area.

Dublin’s the obvious choice for authentic Paddy’s Day action so expect swarms of tourists wearing ‘Kiss me I’m Irish’ badges. They are not Irish. Do not kiss them.

Instead follow the locals to all day gigs in pop up venues around the city. There's a Paddy's All Dayer at The Bernard Shaw.
